Hard Knox™ Brewery in the community of Black Diamond of Diamond Valley takes its cue from the miners and ranchers who have lived and worked in Southern Alberta since the late 1800s. “Who hasn’t experienced hard knocks at some point in their life?” asks Pamela Lyken, who, along with her brother, Cory Lyken started Hard Knox™. You’ll feel right at home when you step through the taproom doors with its casual, homey vibe, with tables built from a 70-year-old bowling lane, walls planked with 100-year-old barn board, and newly crafted shiplap. This taproom is tasteful and cozy, balanced with industrial legs, metal accents on a copper-top bar, and history displayed through black and white photos and antiques. This is a true destination for beer lovers and tourists alike. In the summer months, they are open 7 days a week, and Growleez, operated by local chef, Tina Brown of Longview sits onsite to serve a large selection of menu items. During the winter hours, Hard Knox™ provides appetizers, pizza and the famous pickled eggs family recipe. Check out their menu. The complimentary popcorn is a nice touch, and on Thursday evenings throughout the winter, Growleez hosts a wing night.
