Wood Buffalo National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is home to the largest Dark Sky Preserve in the world, the last remaining herds of free-roaming bison, the only nesting grounds for the last wild migrating flock of whooping cranes, home of the largest freshwater delta in North America. The park is Canada's largest national park and is a vast wilderness of sprawling grasslands, boreal forests and crystal salt flats. It offers visitors various hiking, paddling, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, biking and camping opportunities. Stay in one of the newly opened rental cabins available at Pine Lake, a giant sinkhole made perfect for swimming by a sandy beach and cool aquamarine water.
